`The endless gratitude from other people pales in comparison with a simple pat in the back from your own ‘mates.`
Imagine how it would feel when these same people, not only fails to appreciate what you’ve done but at the same time, betrays you? Are you feeling the pain yet? Good.
Story goes like this:
A friend’s friend was looking for someone to interview for a subject’s project that was about Linux in general. Their group arranged an interview with me to answer some questions about FOSS, Linux, etc. The interview was moved from a Wednesday to a Friday to a Saturday. They asked me a bunch of questions and it was all over in half an hour. Got some really real fish crackers* as a token.
Then, the week following that interview, they dropped out my friend’s friend for not doing anything and refusing to edit the videos (because he does not know how, he said)**. My friend said that her friend was the one who proposed the topic, provided the questions and looked for the interviewers. I even helped them out by providing additional materials to work with. That’s a lot of things for doing nothing.
So, to cut the long story short, the person who did nothing, is on his own. I feel sort of disappointed with what they did to him (and partly regret even helping them out). I think they’ve had a hard time in editing the shots though because I answered some of the questions so crappily, I felt like kicking myself. Haha.
I apologize to @maykol for not getting to help anymore. I’ve had a very busy schedule this past week and this is, perhaps, the least I could do to help.
*My groupmates said it wasn’t half-bad as it looked. I never touched it though. Gave me the creeps. Thanks them nonetheless.
** They (the friend’s friend group) even said that: “Hindi ka marunong mag-edit ng video? ComSci ka ba talaga?” The nerve.
The quote was originally for a totally unrelated event but I just thought it made a good leading statement to this post.
