Thoughts on #AsiaSource3

After 6 days with grueling Internet connection, I am finally back home to a fast enough Internet.

What is Asia Source 3?
From the site itself, it says:

Building Capacities and Empowering Humanity through the use of Free and Open Source Software to connect, cooperate, and collaborate – the FOSS way.

And true to their word, it is an event where the participants gets the final word  to what we will get to learn in the end. It also fosters and environment where everyone is encouraged to ask questions and share what they know. For anyone dealing with FOSS, Asia Source 3 is a good way to make connections with other FOSS advocates as well as a breath of fresh air as new ideas flow in from the conversations and from the track topics.

I never really expected much for AS3. I expected your usual conference where a set of speakers stands in front and says “bla bla bla blablabla. Thank you.” but I got something more than what I expected. AS3 was a very very participant-oriented event where the participant gets the most out of the whole event. Whether it be on what will be discussed in the tracks, the kind of report the group presents, down to the music you get to listen in the evening, the participants get to have a say.

It was the presence of such freedom of choice that made AS3 your not-so-usual conference and definitely one that will be remembered by the 150+ people that were a part of the AS3 community.

I hated having to leave early but I needed to attend to my schoolwork. (come to think of it, maybe I should’ve stayed until today).

Pictures will have to wait until I get a link to those people who upload. (I let the others do all of the picture-taking)

Here are some phrases / words for me to remember and if you would like to hear the story, just get me a drink and I’ll tell you all about it. :3

Dude! That should’ve been LPI2 and Joomla guy, basically it’s the same guy…

And guess what… LPI girl chose to leave from camp at 5PM today to give way for more “Joomla sessions” *wink* *wink*
